Enter your target weight and barbell weight to instantly see which plates to load on each side of the bar.
Enter your total target weight (the full weight on the bar including the barbell itself) and select your barbell weight. The calculator shows you exactly which plates to add to each side of the bar.
Remember — plates are always loaded symmetrically, so the number shown is per side. If it says 2× 20kg, that means two 20kg plates on the left and two on the right.
Most gyms use a 20kg Olympic barbell for squats, bench press, and deadlift. Women's barbells are typically 15kg. If you're in a gym that uses pounds, the standard barbell is 45lbs.
Standard plate sets only allow certain weight combinations. If your target can't be made exactly with common plates, the calculator will show the closest achievable weight below your target. To hit in-between weights, some gyms have fractional plates (0.5kg / 1.25kg) — add these manually on top of the calculated amount.
